Last Day of Work

Today is my last day at my current job, so I wanted a little Tarot support before I go. I used cards from The Gendron Tarot by Melanie Gendron.

What obstacles will I face today? VII - The Chariot. My husband and I had a long talk last night about this whole situation and what I want to do with my life. He understands that I will never be happy in a "traditional" job and that I need to be in control of my life. Today is the last day at my job, and that means other people are still in control (even down to when I use the restroom and when I can eat or drink). They are also still trying to get me to continue working there, even though I've quit. Twice. My obstacle today is letting others guide my path or influence my decisions. I've got to get out of there.

How can I overcome my obstacles today? 9 of Wands - Stand strong, stand by my decision, and push through the day. In Tarot for a New Generation by Janina Renee', the 9 of Wands says that, "A person who has all of his energies aligned has the strength needed to go up against obstacles."  That's encouraging.

Finally, what is my overall card for the day? 8 of Wands - This card is often seen as the movement or travel card. It can indicate success in moving towards your goals. I need to quit this job in order to create the space to do what I really want to do. I talked about this in my other blog here. The 8 of Wands can also indicate swiftness. I sure do hope my time at work today goes by quickly!

In this particular card, a woman is standing inside a beautifully-decorated room while the wands outside are flying around. There are a lot of things going on at work because I am leaving. Because the managers never hired anyone to take my place, they are scrambling around and blaming me. Luckily, I am safely inside, secure in my own self, watching the turmoil that is taking place all around me. I do not have to be a part of that, nor do I have to take blame for others' mistakes. I cannot let them try to guilt me into staying longer because they did not do their job (there's that obstacle again) because I was responsible in my decision to leave.

It is interesting to note that these cards are 7, 8, and 9, indicating the end of one cycle. Of course, this also means the beginning of a new, and hopefully more exciting, cycle!

Should L stay friends with M?

I did a relationship reading using the Legacy of the Divine Tarot by Ciro Marcetti.

L - starting new pursuits, perhaps intellectual ones, making life changes, getting ready for action. You are ready to make positive changes in your life.

What you want out of the relationship - King of Swords, Reversed. Have you been burned before? Maybe you are tired of stern men who take control or take the upper hand in your relationships. Perhaps you have been the caregiver for too long and want relationships where you don't feel like you have to be the one taking care of everything or "fixing" things.

What you get out of the relationship - V Faith, Reversed. This card can be about bucking the trends and going against "normal," marching to the beat of your own drummer. Unfortunately, it can also indicate losing faith and feeling drained. Is this relationship wearing you down and making you feel pessimistic?

M - this card represents your friend. Poor, begging, whether or not he has resources, this person may be continually looking for a hand-out (either financially or emotionally). No matter how much people give or how much he has, does pessimism rule? Does he seem to always need more?

What M wants - 8 of wands, reversed. He isn't going to change his attitude anytime soon. The way things are suit him just find. And he's not (voluntarily) going anywhere.

What M gets from the relationship - 10 of Wands. Whether or not it's true, M feels like he has a lot of burden to carry. With the surrounding cards, and especially the 5 of Coins, I would imagine a lot of this is due more to his own imagination than what is truly going on in his life.

Possible point of conflict in the relationship - 7 of coins. L will work hard and believe that her efforts will pay off in the end. She is ready to roll up her sleeves and do what it takes to make her life better. She is putting in effort and waiting to see the fruits of her labor. M, however, may not believe that the hard work is going to pay off. He may try to bring negativity into L's life and bring down her efforts. He may see the world as a cold and uncaring place, and say, "poor me, I never get what I want in life" while L says, "what can I do to take charge of my own life and make it better?" This could also indicate that M is asking for too much financial or emotional support from L.

Outcome - 6 of Swords. A traditional meaning for this card is leaving sorrows behind. This seems to indicate that you may be leaving this relationship in the past. Cutting off ties with anyone can be painful, even if the relationships are negative or damaging to our self-esteem or sense of self-worth. But we all need to find our own way in life. And we are always better off for it. If we choose to stay around people who bring us down, we will end up with Faith, Reversed.
